About Nannuo Mountain
Nannuo Mountain is located in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, in southern Yunnan. It is one of the region's well-known tea mountains and has a long history of tea cultivation, particularly among the Hani people.
The mountain is known for its older tea trees, forest environment and high-elevation tea gardens. The combination of elevation, climate and local tea-growing traditions contributes to the distinctive character of Nannuo tea.
Tea from Nannuo can show a range of characteristics including floral aromas, sweetness, bitterness, astringency and a lingering aftertaste. Processing also has a major influence on the final tea.
This is one of the reasons I enjoy working with tea from Nannuo. The same mountain can produce very different tea experiences depending on how the leaves are processed.
Teas from Nannuo Mountain
Rambutan Tea Company currently has several teas from Nannuo Mountain:
- Golden Dragon White Tea — light, sweet and aromatic
- Blue Dragon Red Tea — sweet, smooth and warming
- Jade Dragon Glutinous-Aroma Tea — known for its distinctive aroma
- Goddess Kiss Raw Puerh — fresh, mellow and clear
All four teas come from the same mountain environment, but each has a different character because of the processing.
For me, this is what makes Nannuo interesting: one mountain, many expressions.
